Separation is achieved by raising one section.The Sofa Commector can be attached to the bottom or the back of the furniture. Ratchet connecting jaws measure 2-1/8″ (54mm) wide by 4-3/4″ (121mm) long. The spring loaded ratchet jaws can be concealed by pivoting 180 degrees when not in use. All parts are steel, zinc anti-rust plated. K-39391Z uses a rectangle plate 1-13/16″ (43mm) wide by 1-7/8″ (48mm) tall to which is riveted a solid triangle of 17/32″ steel with a projection of 1-1/16″ (27mm).
