American made steel trunk nails, 1-1/4 inches long with a head size just over 1/4 inch. Produced on original Civil War era machinery. Used to attach trunk hardware including hinges, corners, locks, latches, and handle loops. The traditional installation method drives the nail through the hardware and trunk wall, then bends the point over inside the trunk to prevent pull-through — which is why many antique trunks have decorative paper linings concealing the bent nail points. Sold in 4 oz packs, approximately 80 nails per pack.
