Applications & Installation

These trunk nails are ideal for attaching corners, handles, locks, latches, and decorative hardware to wooden trunk bodies. The traditional installation method involves driving the nail through the hardware and trunk wall, then either clinching it against an iron backing plate or bending the point over inside the trunk to prevent pull-through. This clinching technique is why most antique trunks featured decorative paper linings—to conceal the bent nail points and create a finished interior appearance.
